Electromagnetic Compatibility

Electronic or Electrical devices are said to be electromagnetically compatible if noise (electrical) generated by them does not interfere with the performance of any other device. So, it means it is that happy situation in which total harmony is maintained i.e., system works as intended both within themselves and in their environment.

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is said to exist when undesirable voltages or currents are present to adversely effect the performance of the device. These voltages or currents may reach the victim device by conduction or electromagnetic field radiation. The process of making design changes or adjustments in such a way that signals or noise levels are reduced is known as EMI control (EMIC).
